Preparing Schools for Social Distancing

Preparing School For Social Distancing

This week has seen children welcomed back to early years and primary school settings across England, and we’re here with information to help prepare schools for social distancing.

The UK Government website shares some practical advice for staff on ‘How to implement protective measures in an education setting‘, which includes regular hand washing and minimising contact.

However, keeping young children 2m apart at all times and getting them to wash their hands is going to be a big challenge for teachers and staff working in school settings.

We have put together some helpful solutions so schools can be better prepared for social distancing.

Signs and Markers

One way to help remind everyone of the new guidelines is to use visual cues like signs and markers. That way teachers don’t have to keep repeating themselves and children get an instant visual reminder of what they need to be doing.

Floor markers are a great way of enforcing the 2m rule and also highlighting new one-way systems to teachers and students.

Using clear signage around the school is another really helpful way to remind everyone of what they need to be doing, whether it’s hand washing or to mark out specific zones in a classroom.

Other ways schools can be well prepared for the new challenges set by social distancing is with floor stencils. These can be used in the playgrounds as a reminder for parents at school drop off and for children while they are outside playing.

Cleaning

Cleaning of the school classrooms, common areas like sports halls and canteens is going to be a round the clock job now too.

And one which will need to done, during the day, after different groups of children move around the school and at the end of the day when all the children have left the building.

So, to make that task a little easier you can set up designated cleaning stations in each of the key areas, so cleaning products are always visible and easy to access.

Visible Communication

To help protect and highlight important messages within the school setting, document pockets can be a very effective means of communication.

With a variety of different document pockets on the market, they are perfect for use on all clean, dry, smooth  or magnetic surfaces.

Document pockets also come in a waterproof option, which can be used outside the school to share important information with parents and other visitors.
